If the operations of your facility involve dangerous substances, you need to adhere to OSHA’s Hazard Communications standard. An important aspect to HazCom is adequate signage that warns workers of the presence of toxic chemicals and establishes dangerous zones, such as chemical mixing areas. Chemical hazard labels provide information on nearly any situation that may come up in the workplace.
Use chemical hazard labels to remind workers to wear the proper PPE, alert them to hazardous waste storage areas, and provide caution about environmental dangers such as asbestos. Even if the presence of a hazardous chemical is only a possibility, using labels to communicate this to workers is an essential step in ensuring that no accidents, injuries, or illnesses occur.
