Designated smoking areas are locations set up by facilities to allow people an appropriate place to smoke that is away from anything that could be hazardous, due to the smoke and ash. This label is used to warn those staying in the smoking area that the air they’re breathing in could be harmful to their health. Labels such as this one are necessary in California, as part of Proposition 65. This proposition, also known as The Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act, requires facilities to notify Californians that they may be consuming chemicals that could cause cancer, birth defects, and reproductive harm.
